Welcome to our weekly Edgewood Intermediate Family Newsletter. Below you will find important dates, updates, attendance tips, reading tips, math tips, and helpful links.

Updates

  • At parent drop off, please have your student get out of the car as soon as you pull by the yellow line sidewalk. Both sets of doors are open. This will speed up the process.

  • When students have more than $15 in breakfast/lunch charges, they will be given an alternative lunch.

  • Just a reminder that only plain water is allowed in water bottles here at school. This is due to possible accidental spills.
 

Attendance Tip of the Week

Attendance builds resilience. Even on days when school feels challenging, showing up helps students learn how to overcome obstacles and persevere—an essential life skill.

Students are allowed 18 unexcused hours before not earning the Christmas incentive. Remember excused hours will never count against students for the incentive.

Students are considered excessively absent in a school year when they miss 38 hours in a month or 65 hours in a school year. This includes both excused and unexcused hours. 

Students are considered habitually truant if they miss 42 hours in a month or 72 hours in a school year. This includes only unexcused hours.

Reading Tip of the Week

Celebrate reading progress. End your reading time by asking: 'What was the best part of reading today?' or 'What book do you want to try next?'

Math Tip of the Week

Play board or card games that use numbers—Uno, Yahtzee, or even simple dice games build math fluency in fun ways.
 

EIS Award

Edgewood Intermediate was awarded the Bronze award for implementing PBIS. This is a great honor awarded by the State of Ohio.

PBIS Expectations

Did you know that PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports? As a school, we have school wide PBIS expectations throughout the building. You may hear your student talking about these things.
